Civic Engagement: Leadership Through Service

At L.E.E.P TO COLLEGE FOUNDATION, Inc., civic engagement is not an add-on—it’s a core value. We believe that service builds character, cultivates leadership, and prepares our Scholars and families to be active, empowered members of their communities.

Civic engagement is how we build bridges, break barriers, and nurture leaders who serve with heart and vision. At L.E.E.P, we don’t just prepare students for college—we prepare them to lead lives of purpose.

Together, we rise. Together, we serve. Together, we lead.

100 Hours of Impact: A Scholar's Commitment

Every L.E.E.P Scholar must complete 100 hours of community service each cohort year. These hours are intentionally designed to:

  • Build empathy, responsibility, and leadership

  • Strengthen real-world skills in communication, organization, and advocacy

  • Connect with local organizations and causes that matter

  • Reflect on their role as changemakers in their communities

These hours open doors to:

  • Internships with mission-aligned partners

  • Scholarships that reward service and leadership

  • High recognition within L.E.E.P, including awards, showcases, and alumni spotlights

Civic engagement is not just a requirement—it’s a launchpad for visibility, opportunity, and legacy.

Civic Labs: Structured Pathways for Families

To ensure our programming remains high-quality, inclusive, and sustainable, we invite parents and guardians to serve within one of our Civic Labs—structured volunteer teams that support key areas of our mission:

  • Fundraising & Development: Support events, donor outreach, and resource generation

  • Marketing & Outreach: Help amplify our message through communications, social media, and community visibility

  • Alumni & Community Engagement: Strengthen relationships with graduates, mentors, and local partners

Parent/guardian engagement is highly encouraged and deeply valued. Families who choose not to participate in a Civic Lab will be assessed a program fee, ensuring that every household contributes meaningfully—either through time or financial support.

This dual-pathway model honors both dignity and flexibility, allowing families to choose how they invest in our shared mission.
